Settlement Summary
Ingenious Designs and other co-defendants have reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit over alleged safety issues with their Joy/JM-branded My Little Steamer product. The lawsuit claimed the defendants had violated consumer protection laws, breached warranty, and unjustly profited from selling the reportedly unsafe steamers. The settlement covers anyone who purchased the product between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2020, and also falls under a voluntary recall of the steamers. Both the plaintiff and defendants agreed to the settlement to avoid the uncertainties and expenses of ongoing litigation. The settlement offers refunds and vouchers to the affected consumers. Those who bought My Little Steamer models between January 2018 and December 2020 are eligible for a full refund upon submission of valid claims that include proof of purchase, ownership, and destruction of the product. Others will receive cash or voucher refunds depending on the purchase date and model. Ingenious Designs has ceased the manufacturing, importation, distribution, and selling of the defective product in the United States.
