Have you or a loved one used hair-straighter chemicals? If so and you subsequently developed uterine or other cancers, the chemicals may be the cause.
Chemical hair straighteners are a booming industry, but their safety is under scrutiny. A groundbreaking study—possibly the most comprehensive to date—has shed light on the connection between chemical straighteners and uterine cancer. These products, aggressively marketed to Black women, have now become the subject of lawsuits against their manufacturers.
Researchers from Boston University’s Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS) followed approximately 45,000 Black women for up to 22 years. Their findings revealed that postmenopausal women who used hair straighteners more than twice a year or for over five years had a more than 50% higher risk of uterine cancer compared to those who rarely or never used them.
Attorneys collaborating with Class Action Champion are representing consumers diagnosed with uterine or ovarian cancer after using chemical hair straighteners or relaxers. Scientific research has established a link between these products and an elevated cancer risk, and lawsuits now allege that manufacturers were aware of these dangers but failed to warn consumers.
If you or a loved one developed uterine or ovarian cancer after using chemical hair straighteners, you might be eligible to seek compensation for medical expenses, emotional suffering, and other damages.

How Much Compensation Could You Receive in a Hair Relaxer Lawsuit?
It is difficult to predict the exact amount of compensation a consumer could receive from a hair relaxer cancer settlement. Various factors will influence the settlement amount, including the severity of the injuries, medical expenses (such as the cost of chemotherapy, hysterectomy, or related treatments), time away from work, whether the cancer was fatal, and other considerations.
One law firm estimates average settlements for hair relaxer lawsuits to range between $100,000 and $1.5 million, while another suggests amounts from $400,000 to $1.75 million. However, the final outcome of the legal process will ultimately determine the success of any claim and the compensation awarded.
What Are the Costs of Filing a Hair Relaxer Lawsuit?
These lawsuits are being handled on a contingency-fee basis. This means you will only pay legal fees if your case is successful. In such cases, the attorney typically collects a percentage of the compensation awarded.
