Settlement Summary
Google recently agreed to a $100 million settlement over a class-action lawsuit concerning its AdWords program. The tech giant faced claims that it had charged advertisers for clicks on ads that were not clicked on by users in the designated geographic areas, a violation of Google's assurances to its advertisers. This reportedly led to advertisers paying more than they should have for their ads. The settlement covers individuals and entities in the U.S who advertised through Google's AdWords program and paid for clicks on their ads between January 1, 2004, and December 13, 2012. The settlement is divided into two classes: a Location Targeting Class and a Search Bundled Clicks Class. The former includes those who advertised through AdWords and paid for clicks on their ads where users were not from the selected location. The latter consists of those who paid for clicks on ads on Google's Display Network and did not set a Display Network bid different from the Search Network bid.
