Settlement Summary
Daily Harvest, a popular meal delivery service, recently consented to a $7.67 million class action settlement over claims that its French Lentil + Leek Crumbles caused food poisoning due to salmonella contamination. The lawsuit alleged that Daily Harvest failed to adequately test its tara flour, a gluten-free flour made from the seed pods of tara trees, for salmonella before using it in the product. Customers who purchased, consumed or received the product in 2022 and suffered personal or monetary injuries as a result are eligible for compensation. This agreement follows a similar one in 2024, where the company agreed to a $22.99 million settlement for related claims. Notably, Daily Harvest hasn't admitted to any wrongdoing. The class action lawsuit affords eligible customers various categories of compensation, ranging from $665 to $173,330, depending on the severity of the injury and whether medical treatment or hospitalization was required. The final approval hearing for the Daily Harvest settlement is scheduled for March 3, 2025.
