Settlement Summary

In a significant move to resolve allegations of price-fixing, multiple chicken processors have agreed to a settlement of $22.5 million. This settlement adds to an existing pool of $181 million, bringing the total to $203.5 million. The lawsuit was filed over claims that chicken producers, including industry giants Tyson Foods and Pilgrim’s Pride, conspired to inflate the price of chicken products, which led to consumers overpaying for these products. The settlement benefits consumers who purchased fresh or frozen raw chicken in several states, including California, Florida, New York, and others, between January 1, 2009, and July 31, 2019. Class members, those who have proof of purchase, can receive a cash payment based on the amount they paid for chicken products. The deadline for filing a claim is July 31, 2025.
